Testing for Genetically modified organisms (GMO)

World class GMO testing laboratory is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 from NABL and APEDA for qualitative and quantitative GMO testing. Lab is continuously participating and qualifying the international proficiency testing program from United States Department of Agriculture Grain Inspection, Packers & Stockyards Administration (USDA GIPSA).

Lab is designed to maintain the linear flow of the process and to provide the effective segregation of non compatible activities. Lab is equipped by the latest technology of RT PCR, Thermal cycler, Nano spectrophotometer, Gel documentation system, Biosafety cabinet (provide the contamination free working environment for preparation of sample), Class 100 PCR work station, 2 to 80C cooling chambers, – 200C deep freezer and -800C ultra deep freezer.

GMO tests are performed as per international methods under strict quality control program by highly experienced scientists. Lab maintains the bank of certified reference materials obtained from internationally reputed sources.

FSLS offers complete range of qualitative and quantitative testing solutions that can be customized to wide variety of matrices (like agricultural produce, supplements and finished products) and the assuring compliance to contractual requirements from buyer, while keeping the cost at lowest. For instance;

  • In many cases, a qualitative GMO test for screening of p35S, FMV and NOS constructs will be sufficient and economical.
  • When required, the screening of specific events (like MIR 162, MIR 604, GA 21, Mon 810 in maize and RUR, A 2704 in soya and Mon 531 and Mon 15985 in cotton etc.) in the specific matrix can be performed.
  • When quantification required, a range of options of quantitative GMO tests are available by using Real-Time Quantitative PCR.
  • Screening for detection of genetically modified organism (GMO) by detection of specific events
  • Quantitative determination of GMO by RT PCR
  • Detection for presence of species specific (taxon specific) gene

  • Gene expression studies

Detection of presence of marker protein by using RT PCR and ELISA (Cry 1 ac, Cry 2Ab, Roundup ready flex)
